Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30pm, extended hours as needed
This position provides medical oversight of health programs and service delivery as well as oversight of administrative and operational duties that include the guidance and approval of policy and procedure, developing strategy, and managing quality assurance and quality improvement efforts for the County of Delaware public health services programs.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the County Health Director will:
Develop a strategy for the County of Delaware public health initiatives
Develop and review operational plans and policies
Develop enforcement procedures and regulations to ensure protection of public health
Represent the County in a liaison capacity with officials of other agencies in an effort to enhance the health and well-being of the residents of the County of Delaware.
Oversee and provide community education initiatives
Coordinate with Intercommunity Health and Emergency Services Departments concerning planning for and response to disasters, emergencies and County public health related issues
Serve as a resource to County administration related to public health issues
Performs all other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned
The County Health Officer will have relevant education and experience in a health-related discipline. Preferred qualifications include:
Undergraduate Degree in a related field
Master’s Degree in Public Health
Public health experience, working in Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), or other public health entity preferred
Good communication and organizational skills
Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees. Anyone applying for this job must reside in Delaware County or be willing to move to the County within six months of starting employment.
