Released: September 18, 2020

Delaware County Councilwoman Christine Reuther was joined on September 18 by Dale Petrovitch and Maureen Reilly, two parents who have children proudly serving in the Air Force to help raise the U.S. Air Force flag in honor of the founding of the U.S. Air Force, established on September 18, 1947.

Dale’s son, Samuel Tate Petrovitch, a 2016 Strath Haven graduate is currently serving as a 2nd Lieutenant and is stationed at Colorado Springs. Maureen’s daughter, Madeline Fischer, a 2019 Strath Haven graduate is a Cadet 3rd Class at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Thank you Lt. Petrovitch and Cadet Fischer for your service to our country.

The flag will fly from the flagpole in the courtyard of the Government Center and Courthouse complex for the next week.

Military flags will be raised at appropriate times later this year in observance of the Navy, on Oct. 13, 1775; and the Marine Corps, on Nov. 10, 1775. The Army flag was raised in June and the Coast Guard flag was raised in August to commemorate the anniversaries.

Council commends and extends its gratitude to those who have served or are serving and are bravely protecting our country.
