Delaware County is currently in the process of establishing the Delaware County Department of Health under the Pennsylvania Local Health Administration Law. As part of that process, County Council will appoint the initial five members of the Delaware County Board of Health.

The County is accepting resumes and letters of interest from residents who are interested in applying to be on the board through Feb. 5.


The Board of Health will:

Appoint the Health Director for the County

Advise the Health Director on such matters as requested

Formulate rules and regulations for the prevention of disease, for the prevention and removal of conditions which constitute a menace to health, and for the promotion and preservation of the public health generally, subject to County Council approval


The members of the Board of Health:

Are five Delaware County residents, two of whom shall be Pennsylvania-licensed physicians

Serve four-year terms; provided, two initial members have two-year terms

Serve without compensation except for reimbursement of expenses

The Board is required to hold regular meetings at least once every three months
