Job Opening: Environmental Planner

Scheduled Hours: 8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week; air-conditioned office; out-of-office meetings and site visits; occasional night meetings
The Environmental Planner is responsible for carrying out tasks including research, report preparation, and outreach for activities as set forth in the Department Work Program.
Under general supervision of the Environmental Manager:
Serves as project planner on assigned projects
Prepares natural resource, coastal zone, sewage facilities, hazard mitigation, and other environmental plans as requested
Performs state-mandated sewage facilities planning module reviews
Prepares environmental components of municipal and/or multi-municipal comprehensive plans
Participates in regional environmental and watershed group committees
Develops grant applications
Provides technical assistance to municipalities concerning environmental issues and programs
Responds to public inquiries regarding environmental issues
Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field.
Ability to work in a team environment on a wide range of projects involving both public and private interests is essential.
Excellent written and oral skills; research skills; organizational and time management skills
Familiarity with the planning process at the local level.
One or two years of experience preferred.
Working knowledge of AGOL is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Sitting/standing at a desk; driving to meetings and field work.
