Title: Wellness Instructor - Male
Reporting Structure: Program - Reentry Administrator
Salary: $21 hourly
Site Location: George W. Hill Correctional Facility (Glen Mills, PA)
The Wellness Instructor will be responsible for providing physical health and behavioral health wellness activities primarily for the male incarcerated population. This instructor will also provide support to their counterpart (providing services predominantly to the male adult and youthful offender population) during periods of absence.The incumbent will assist the incarcerated personpopulation in developing andinstructing anindividualized physical recreation and wellness plan to support and maintain sobriety and an overall gender focused healthy lifestyle.
Create aquarterlyschedulewhich includes bothrecreation and classroom components which will provide the incarcerated person population with ample time aside from work, programs, and other duties to engage in recreational activities and courses.
Responsible for all additional recreational programswithin the facility.
Work with the special management units within the facility to include maximum security, protective custody, and youthful offenders.
Develop programming for the geriatric population (age 55 and older) as needed.
Introduce wellness components to other prison programs when needed to promote an overall healthy lifestyle.
Ensure equipment is maintained in good condition at all times.
Ensure equipment is accounted for and inventoried on a daily basis.
Conduct continuous assessments of incarcerated persons recreational interests.
Other duties as directed.
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experiencein nutritional education, athletic training, kinesiology, or exercise science preferred.
Ability to plan, formulate, and implement policies and procedures.
Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and situations.
Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.
Effective administrative and management skills.
Ability to deal tactfully with a variety of people with a variety of different intellectual levels and cultural backgrounds in complex situations.
Demonstrate job skills beyond the giving and receiving of instructions.
Must have a valid Act 33 and Act 34 Clearance.
Standard jail facility and office environment. Incumbent may be involved in sitting and walking at will, walking/standing and/or sitting for long periods, lifting/ carryingheavyobjects, crouching/kneeling, bending at the waist, close and far vision, reaching, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the hazards associated with jail operations, such as potentially violent individuals and communicable disease. No prolonged extreme physical demands are associated with normal duties or assignments.
