Summary

The Adult Service Coordinator ensures all county residents can enjoy educational and entertaining resources to enhance their personal lives and livelihoods. They support the Reference and Adult Services librarians at Delaware County Libraries’ 26 member libraries including training and professional development opportunities, they ensure quality digital resources are available to all county residents, and they provide oversight of the outreach and interlibrary loan (ILL) staff and services.


Essential Duties

Assists member library staff and patrons with reference needs including general consulting, use of digital resources including technical support, and readers advisory.

Promotes the use of DCL services and resources through trainings, outreach, and support.

Develops and maintains effective relationships within the library community, with digital resource vendors, and with community organizations to promote library services and resources.

Leads a forum for library workers with reference, outreach, adult programming, reader’s advisory, and interlibrary loan interests to share best practices, concerns, and resources.

Publishes lists, brochures, and other materials for public distribution or display that highlight reference topics, collections, and resources.

In conjunction with the Director of Library Services, evaluates and recommends print and digital resources; maintains use statistics of various resources and services.

Maintains Digital Library portion of the DCL website, coordinates website book lists, and recommends additions or changes to the website.

Supervises the Outreach Specialist and collaborates to ensure high quality outreach programming.

Supervises the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator and services.

Performs other duties, task and special projects, as required.


Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.

Certification as a professional librarian in Pennsylvania, preferred.

A valid driver's license is required.

Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.

Experience managing digital resources.

Skilled in training and presentations.

Ability to learn and use resource-sharing platforms.


Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:

Ability to learn and use proprietary databases and digital resources.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; walk; kneel, stoop or squat; talk or hear; and drive a vehicle to and from different locations. Occasionally, the employee will need to reach or work with arms above shoulder height, bend or twist at the waist, climb stairs, climb ladders, push up to 125 pounds, and lift and carry from 25 to 30 pounds for a distance of approximately three feet. On rare occasions, employee will need to taste or smell.

Work Environment

Office environment

35 hours per week

8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Occasional evenings and weekends


Other

Must be able to travel between libraries and throughout Pennsylvania as required
