Summary

The position of Arraignment Clerk involves preparing case files for criminal arraignment. The position requires the ability to follow written & oral instructions, computer knowledge & the operation of standard office equipment. Good organizational skills are required, along with the ability to prioritize work. Excellent communication skills are necessary to interact with other offices and staff by telephone and in person.


Essential Duties

Under the general supervision of the Office Administrator:

Receives weekly arraignment list is accurate for Thursday arraignments.

Ensures related case files are complete with required information.

Prepare case-related information and checks files for subpoenas.

Arranges case files for pre-arraignment interviews.

Updates arraignment list and case folders appropriately.

Disperses arraignment list to Sheriff’s, court clerk services and bail department.

Go to court every Wednesday which is arraignment day.

Bring writs from constables to judge to sign.

Collect mail twice a day at 10:00am and 3:00pm from the Office of Judicial Support.

Cover front counter, as needed.

Make files and designate them.

Put designations in DUI cases.


Qualifications

High school graduate, or equivalent.

Three years-experience in the DA’s office or comparable in the court system.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Applications to access case information.

Must be detail oriented to read through case files to search for information as it pertains to the arraignment process.

Ability to pass security background check.
