The Probate Document Clerk is responsible for filing all completed probates, issuing additional short certificates, certified and/or exemplified copies of probate records; performing estate searches for both in- person, mail and telephonic orders.
Under the direction of the Register of Wills and Department Deputies, the Probate Document Clerk:
Receives and dockets Inheritance Tax returns/filings and sends appropriate Inheritance Tax returns/filings to the PA Dept. of Revenue.
Interacts on daily basis with the PA Department of Revenue, Inheritance Tax Division regarding Inheritance Tax returns with issues/questions as needed.
Prepares and processes bills for Additional, No Letter and Supplemental filing fees.
Processes joint bank account Inheritance Tax bills.
Prepares short certificates, certified/exemplified copies of Register of Wills files.
Performs Estate searches.
Orders and retrieves Register of Wills files from storage.
Processes postal mail requests, assists the public on the phone and at the counter.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Prior office or legal experience preferred
Excellent customer service
