Summary

The Financial Receipts Clerk performs an essential function of the Register of Wills Office by accepting all payments for services rendered within the Register of Wills Office as well as accepting all Inheritance Tax Returns and Payments to be transmitted to the PA Department of Revenue.


Essential Duties

Under the direction of the Register of Wills and Department Deputies, the Financial Receipts Clerk will:

Accept and processes all Register of Wills, Orphan's Court and Marriage License payments/transactions.

Open and close cashiering system daily.

Process daily bank deposits.

Accept PA Inheritance Tax returns and Inheritance Tax payments for transmission to PA Department of Revenue and mails daily receipts to taxpayer and PA Department of Revenue.

Act as liaison between taxpayer and PA Department of Revenue when issues arise.

Prepare State Monthly Report for Inheritance Tax payments by reviewing all inheritance tax deposits made in the previous month.

Present State Monthly Report for Inheritance Tax payments to Register of Wills for review and signature, then submits Report to PA Department of Revenue.

Assist Receptionist in directing phone calls and in-person customers to appropriate personnel within Register of Wills Department.

Schedule Probate Appointments and maintains Probate Appointment calendar.

Provide clerical assistance and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Prior office experience preferred.
