The Receptionist answers phone calls and receives visitors to the Office of the Medical Examiner. The Receptionist is often the first point of contact with the office for individuals that lost a loved one. The Office of the Medical Examiner is seeking a personable, patient and compassionate person to fulfill this critically customer service position.
Under the direction of the Administrator the Receptionist:
Welcomes all visitors to the Office of the Medical Examiner, including funeral home personnel and family members.
Gathers necessary information from visitors in order to facilitate meetings with the appropriate Medical Examiner Staff.
Answers phone calls and messages, ascertaining the nature of the call, determines where to direct calls, and provides information, within authorized limits.
Maintains and files data relative to calls and visits to the Office of the Medical Examiner.
Assist in the creation of cremation permits for the funeral homes, assists with the releasing of bodies to verified funeral homes, uploading toxicology and autopsy reports.
Uploading Death Certificates to state database.
Preparing case files for the doctors.
Assists with other office administrative duties and projects as assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Extreme attention to detail.
Prior experience in a high-volume customer service position.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
