Upper Chichester selected to participate in a national “Community Heart & Soul” initiative
Delaware County Council presented a resolution to the members of the Heart & Soul Leadership Committee and the Upper Chichester Board of Commissioners during their Oct. 3 public meeting held at the Upper Chichester Township Building. The resolution recognized the Township for being selected to participate in a national “Community Heart & Soul” initiative.
Upper Chichester was recently selected to participate in the program to enhance the quality of life for members of the community. The Pennsylvania Humanities Council has partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and Orton Family Foundation to support Upper Chichester in becoming an even stronger, healthier and more vibrant community through an initiative called “Community Heart & Soul.”
20 community residents and local businesses were selected as “The Upper Chichester Heart & Soul Leadership Team” and will receive training and technical support from the Foundation. The Leadership Team will hold meetings, attend community events, provide educational seminars and engage with as many residents as possible to hear their stories and ideas. The goal is for the team to engage with citizens and empower them to let government leaders know what matters most to them.
“The success of a great community is due in part to the dedication and commitment of the residents and those who serve in local government,” said Delaware County Council Vice Chair Colleen Morrone. “Council commends the Upper Chichester Heart and Soul Leadership Team for empowering residents to share their ideas with local government and create positive change.”
The Community Heart & Soul program is focused on building stronger, healthier, and more economically vibrant small cities and towns across America. Upper Chichester’s team is focused on creating positive change that is resident-driven and recognizing the unique opinions and voices of the entire community.
