Home / Departments / Public Relations Releases / Delaware County Seeks Input on Proposal for an Animal Care & Control Program

Delaware County Council formed a sub-committee to address the challenges of stray animals in the County in the fall of 2018. The sub-committee, which includes Chairman John McBlain, Councilman Kevin Madden, experts in animal control and rescue and law enforcement discussed utilizing a County-owned building to house an animal intake and adoption facility.

The County will be seeking proposals from qualified respondents to assist in the design and retrofit of the existing County-owned building and operate the County’s Animal Care & Control Program.

Before the proposal is released, Delaware County is seeking the input of residents in order to ascertain the public’s perspective.

The public is invited to review the proposal and submit comments online or by mail for 14 days. The deadline to submit comments is April 5, 2019. After review of the public’s comment on the proposal, Delaware County Council will seek proposals from qualified respondents.

The Request for Proposals can be found here: www.delcopa.gov/pdf/AnimalshelterRFPFinal.pdf
