Delco Small Business Satruday 2019

Many Americans will be racing out in the early morning after Thanksgiving to find bargains on Black Friday. In addition to, or instead of standing in line to find mega-deals Delaware County Council encourages residents to support local small businesses on Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday, which is the day after Black Friday, held on November 30th this year, is a day to celebrate and support small businesses. Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 by American Express and was officially recognized in 2011 by the U.S. Senate. Small businesses, which is defined as a business with under 100 employees, contribute significantly to the economy in Delaware County. There are over 12,000 small businesses across Delco.

Every time you pick up a coffee at your local café, grab lunch at the mom-and-pop restaurant or buy a new bag or jewelry from a local store, you're making an impact in your community. In fact, for every dollar spent at a small business, approximately 67 cents stays in the local community. Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy.
