Jack Stollsteimer was sworn in on Jan. 6 as Delaware County District Attorney and immediately implemented reforms designed to make Delaware County residents and communities safer by creating new proactive investigative and prosecution units focused on combating gun violence, protecting communities from environmental hazards, and protecting the rights of workers from unscrupulous employers.
“As I promised during my campaign, my priority is to use the resources of the DA’s office, working collaboratively with our partners in law enforcement, to protect residents while ensuring fair and equal justice for all in the diverse community that we call Delco,” said Stollsteimer. “I’m deeply grateful to the voters who elected me to this office, and honored to be entrusted with the task of protecting them, their families and neighbors.”
Immediately following the Induction, Stollsteimer implemented office-wide ethics reforms to insure staff devote their legal practice exclusively to their county jobs, receive prior approval for any part-time outside employment that does not conflict with their sworn duties, and resign from their county position before seeking elected office.
DA Stollsteimer was elected in November 2019 on a ten (10) point “Smart on Crime” platform. The three (3) new units and the Ethics policies represent four (4) points from that platform.
Stollsteimer is the first Democrat elected Delaware County District Attorney in the modern history of the county.
District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer was administered the Oath of Office by Delaware County President Judge Kevin F. Kelly. His introduction was by Joseph M. Torsella, Treasure of Pennsylvania. The presentation of the Certificate of Election was done by Robert W. O’Donnell, and the Bible was held by his children John and Sarah Stollsteimer.
The invocation was given by Delaware County Sheriff Reverend Jerry L. Sanders. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Martin Costella, Commander of the Wayne American Legion Post 418 and the National Anthem was performed by the Upper Darby High School Encore Singers.
