Members of the Bringing Back Delco Task Force distributed PPE and supplies to daycare and early learning providers on September 16. The kits are being provided free of charge to daycares and early learning centers to assist owners in protecting the babies and young children who attend the programs and the employees. There will be a second distribution on September 17. Almost 200 early learning provider centers registered and the County was able to provide 500 kits.
The kits include both adult and children’s surgical masks, face shields, gloves, a temporal thermometer, EPA approved disinfectant, paper towels, sanitizer and other supplies.
“The Task Force has been meeting to identify the needs of our business community during the pandemic,” said Delaware County Councilwoman and member of the Task Force, Elaine Schaefer. “These items were identified as a critical need by early learning centers and the Task Force worked to provide these items and safely distribute them. Ensuring our learning provider centers have the tools they need to safely care for and teach our youngest little residents is vital to bringing back a robust economy.”
Volunteers from the Citizens Corps of Delaware County and staff from the Chamber of Commerce assembled and distributed the kits. The County is also thrilled to have Wawa as a proud partner. Wawa generously donated gift cards and food vouchers for the essential workers who are working at early learning centers during the pandemic.
The Bringing Back Delco Task Force is working with local elected officials to distribute PPE and supply kits to early learning providers who did not register.
The Bringing Back Delco Task Force was formed in May and is comprised of community, business and government representatives who assist and support the Delaware County business community to ensure a safe reopening of the local economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The website also includes downloadable flyers and graphics for business owners to display and share with their employees. The Task Force has offered safety and cleaning supplies to businesses at a discounted bulk rate and has a helpline to help business owners and managers navigate COVID-19 guidance.
