Released: December 2, 2021

Delaware County’s cherished annual Festival of Lights debuts on December 3 and new this year- the Delco Holiday Village!

The Springton Lake Select Choir and cast members from Hedgerow Theatre will join Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Department of Parks and Recreation, and hundreds of residents to celebrate the opening of the 2021 Festival of Lights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 in Rose Tree Park (1671 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA.)

Following the opening ceremony will be the debut of the Delco Holiday Village. Residents are invited to shop and support local merchants in Delaware County at Rose Tree Park this winter. Twelve local vendors and two trucks will participate in the Holiday Village on December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18. Each night will feature different vendors and food.

“The Festival of Lights has been a treasured Delco tradition for more than four decades for residents across the County and we are thrilled to be debuting the new Holiday Village this year,” said Delaware County Councilwoman Elaine Schaefer. “Rose Tree Park is the perfect place to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy the beautiful displays, shop local, and enjoy some local cuisine. There is an estimated $2B leakage in retail in Delaware County and it’s now more important than ever that we support our small business community. Venues such as the Delco Holiday Village give residents the opportunity to shop local and invest in our community.”

The 2021 Festival of Lights opens with a Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 3, at 5:00 p.m. Displays are lit nightly from 5:00-10:00 p.m. through Sunday, January 2. Admission and parking are free. The pedestrian mall is handicapped-accessible. Well-behaved pets on a leash are welcome. For park information call 610-891-4455 or visit: www.delcopa.gov/departments/parks/rosetree.html

The Delco Holiday Village will be held December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18 from 5:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Admission is free. A full list of vendors can be found: www.holidayvillagedelco.com

Delaware County’s Festival of Lights began in 1976 as part of festivities planned to celebrate the nation’s Bicentennial.
