Young poets are encouraged to enter the Delaware County Young Poets Competition for a chance to showcase their talents!
For the 32nd year, the Mad Poets Society presents the Delaware County Young Poets Competition, and is accepting entries from students throughout Delaware County, from first grade through twelfth grade. Submissions will be accepted April 1 through April 30, 2021.
Students can submit one original poem to any public library in Delaware County or online at bit.ly/DCLSubmitPoem. Poems will be judged by grade level. Original poems must be typed or written neatly on an 8 ½ by 11 size sheet of paper (no odd size or construction paper, please).
Please include student’s name, phone number, address, parent e-mail (no school e-mails), grade, and school on the top right (front) of the poem. If the information is not listed, the entry will be disqualified. Contact information is for notification purposes only and will not be shared. Winners will be listed on the Delaware County Libraries website in May and will be invited to send a recorded reading of their work for posting on social media.
The Young Poets Competition will culminate in a special virtual awards event on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. The contest is sponsored by the Mad Poets Society, Delaware County Libraries, Keystone State Literacy Association: Delaware County, Rose Tree Media Optimist Club, Pennsylvania Poetry Society, and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
