Delaware County Reminds Residents of Tips to Stay Safe During the June Heat Wave
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Tuesday, June 18 and an Excessive Heat Warning for Wednesday, June 20 through Saturday, June 23 is still in effect.
Here are some vital tips to help you beat the heat:
- Stay Cool Indoors: Whenever possible, remain in air-conditioned locations. Whether at home, a local mall, or a public library, air conditioning is the most effective way to combat heat.
- Hydrate Regularly: Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Avoid beverages containing alcohol, caffeine, or excessive sugar as they can dehydrate you further.
- Check on Others: Be mindful of friends, neighbors, and especially older adults who may be more vulnerable to the heat. A quick check-in can make a significant difference.
- Protect Children and Pets: Never leave children or pets in vehicles, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can escalate quickly, posing severe risks.
