Celebrating a Century: Delaware County's 2025 Centenarian Luncheon

County to Honor Residents Turning 100 or Older in 2025 at Annual Luncheon on May 15

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA), in collaboration with Delaware County Council, is pleased to invite residents who will reach the age of 100 or older in 2025 to attend the County’s Centenarian Luncheon—a celebration honoring the wisdom, experiences, and resilience of Delaware County’s oldest residents.

The luncheon will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Drexelbrook Banquet Center in Drexel Hill, and will bring together centenarians, their families, caregivers, and supporters for an afternoon of reflection, recognition, and community spirit.

Honoring a Century of Experience and Resilience

The Centenarian Luncheon is a longstanding tradition that offers a unique opportunity to celebrate residents who have lived through more than a century of change. These men and women have contributed to the fabric of our communities, shaped our history, and continue to inspire generations with their insight, grace, and humor.

“Our centenarians are living links to the past—individuals who carry with them stories, lessons, and resilience shaped by a century of experience,” said Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor. “This luncheon allows us to come together to celebrate their lives, to honor their contributions, and to recognize the extraordinary strength they represent. Their presence reminds us of the value of community and the importance of continuing to support and uplift our oldest residents.”

Complimentary Admission and Keepsakes

Centenarians and a guest of their choice are invited to attend the luncheon free of charge. Additional guests are welcome to attend at a cost of $25 per seat. Each centenarian will receive a commemorative photograph and a proclamation from Delaware County Council to mark the occasion and honor their lifetime of contributions.

Fun and Friendly Competition

To help encourage participation and celebrate the efforts of care providers, COSA will once again award a $500 cash prize to the organization or facility that brings the most centenarians to the luncheon. This friendly tradition highlights the outstanding efforts of care providers across the County who go above and beyond to celebrate their residents.

In 2024, three organizations tied for the most centenarians who attended, and each received a check for $500 in recognition of their commitment to centenarian participation. The winners included:

  • Fair Acres, accepted by Director Bill D’Amico
  • Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line, accepted by Executive Director Dan Hood
  • Maris Grove Senior Living, accepted by Maureen Heckler and Executive Director Chad Couture

“We’re thrilled to congratulate all three winning facilities for their commitment to celebrating the lives of their centenarian residents,” said Council Member Christine Reuther. “I especially want to recognize Bill D’Amico and the dedicated team at Fair Acres, our County’s skilled nursing facility, for their tireless work in caring for older adults and supporting our most vulnerable residents with dignity and compassion.”

COSA extends its sincere appreciation to these facilities—and all others who support Delaware County’s older adults—for their ongoing dedication.
