Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital to remain open while negotiations continue
Delaware County, PA — Today, Delaware County has issued the following statement regarding Prospect Medical Holdings:
“Delaware County’s government has been hard at work for years to help prepare for a transition in ownership of critical healthcare assets away from Prospect Medical Holdings. This work has continued for the past several months by assembling a group of potential partners and stakeholders who are working to find a long-term solution that keeps these healthcare assets working to serve the residents of Delaware County.
The county welcomes the news shared in today’s bankruptcy hearing that both Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital will remain open for those negotiations to continue. The county was able to support these efforts by helping advance approximately $1 million in funds that would be payable to FTI Consulting—the receiver appointed by the bankruptcy court—for mental health services rendered. These grant funds are part of an overall funding package to allow the hospitals to remain open in the short-term, and do not come from property tax funds in Delaware County.
Throughout this process, the county is continuing its approach of working for the best-case scenario of a long-term solution that keeps the hospitals open while preparing for a potential closure. Delaware County maintains its commitment to a transition from Prospect ownership of these healthcare facilities in a way that is as orderly, calm, and comprehensive as possible. Delaware County residents are encouraged to seek assistance through the Delaware County Health Department’s Wellness Line at (484) 276-2100 for help navigating local healthcare resources. Residents in need of emergency services can continue to call 9-1-1. Delaware County residents can also consult a dedicated webpage for updates on the situation at DelcoPA.gov/Prospect.”
