Summary

The Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants aims to improve and protect Pennsylvania’s waters from nonpoint source pollution associated with AMD, energy resource extraction, agricultural activities, stormwater runoff, streambank, and shoreline degradation, along with verifying and demonstrating efficacy with enhanced data collection and distribution.

common eligible projects

BMP Implementation as identified in an existing Section 319 WIP. This includes design and permitting and/or construction for agricultural and stormwater management BMP projects, along with AMD, stream channel degradation and floodplain restoration to mitigate the risk of flood damage in the watershed.

BMP implementation within Pennsylvania as listed in approved Maryland or Delaware Section 319 WIPs will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An example includes agricultural or stormwater management BMP implementation, specifically riparian forested buffers, wetland restoration or streambank fencing, within Chester County’s Christina Basin as outlined in the Christina Basin Watershed Plan.

Section 319 WIP Revisions or updates to existing WIPs that are at least eight years old.

Statewide or Regional projects addressing nonpoint source pollution to restore or protect water quality may be considered if funding remains.
