Adoption Records

To search for an adoption record you must send in a written request to the Orphans’ Court.

The request should contain the following:

  • Year of adoption
  • Name of Adoptee after adoption
  • Name of adopting parents

The letter should be addressed to:

Only after court approval, the clerk will conduct a search.

You will be contacted by letter if a record is/is not found.  If a record is found you will be sent directions for the next step.  You will have the option to file a petition for non-identifying information ($100.00 filing fee) or a petition for identifying information ($200.00 filing fee).

Finally, after the petition is approved you will be appointed a case worker within Children and Youth Services department who will contact you with the information.
