The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD), in partnership with the Office of the District Attorney, SEPTA, Delaware County Community College (DCCC), and with the support of the Delaware County Council and Senator Tim Kearney’s Office, announces the expansion of its “Test and Go” Kiosk initiative. These free public health resource kiosks have been strategically placed throughout Delaware County. DCHD expects that the high commuter traffic of new kiosk locations at the SEPTA 69th Street Transportation Terminal and DCCC’s Marple Campus will help maximize the reach and impact of these free vital tools. This announcement includes the addition of gunlocks to all five kiosk sites—an initiative made possible through support from the Office of the District Attorney and the Chester Partnership for Safe Neighborhoods.
“This partnership strengthens our commitment to meeting people where they are and extends the reach of our public health resourse kiosks further than ever before,” said Delaware County Health Department Director Lora Siegmann Werner. “Please remember, every product provided here and at all kiosks are offered at no cost to residents!”
Today’s announcement reinforces DCHD’s commitment to preventing injury, illness, disease, and premature death in Delaware County. These 24-hour kiosks offer a range of high-quality testing options, including a lab (PCR) respiratory panel test for COVID-19, Flu A/B, and RSV and a sexually transmitted infection (STI) panel test. Once residents return their specimens to the kiosks, they will receive their laboratory results within 24-48 hours via email or text. Rapid COVID-19 home (antigen) tests are also available. In addition, the kiosks dispense public health items like Narcan Nasal Spray, test strips, condoms, feminine hygiene supplies, first aid kits, emergency blankets and now gunlocks, all free to residents.
“In Delaware County our Health Department and the Office of District Attorney share the same mission: public health and safety. That’s why we are so proud to partner with DCHD to make Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, and gunlocks readily available to our residents” said District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer.
“I’m proud to have played a role in bringing these kiosks to the community because access to health resources should be convenient, consistent, and close to home,” said Senator Kearney. “This initiative shows what’s possible when local and state partners work together to prioritize public health and safety.”
"SEPTA is glad to be a part of this initiative that ultimately helps to remove barriers from people accessing health care, especially at a major transportation hub like 69th Street Transportation Center which serves so many of our customers every day," said SEPTA interim General Manager, Scott A. Sauer.
This initiative is funded by Delaware County opioids settlement funding, a federal Epidemiological Laboratory Capacity COVID-19 testing-related grant that DCHD receives via the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and a federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This program may not reflect the policies of the Department of Health and Human Services or the U.S. government. DCHD is contracting with LTS (formally known as Longview International Technology Solutions) for this project.
