Prospect Medical Bankruptcy Update

The Delaware County Health Department is committed to keeping residents informed about the recent bankruptcy filing by Prospect Medical Holdings and its potential impact on the County’s healthcare landscape.

Updates posted on this page include the latest news, guidance on accessing healthcare resources, and assistance available to help employees of Prospect Medical/Crozer Health System and residents of Delaware County and the surrounding region navigate this challenging time.

Current Status of Crozer Health Facilities

As of 8 am 4/23/25, the Emergency Rooms at Crozer Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital are on full diversion and closed to ambulances in preparation for closure of both hospitals with varying timelines for closures from April 25 through May 2, 2025.

  • This closure does NOT include the Ambulatory Surgery & Imaging centers at Brinton Lakes, Broomall, Haverford, and Media.
  • Crozer-Keystone Surgery Center at Brinton Lake and Crozer-Keystone Surgery Center at Haverford will both NOT be closing
  • Crozer Endoscopy Center (a department at Crozer Chester Medical Center), will be closing
  • Broomall Radiation Oncology Center will close
  • All Outpatient Services will close.

The behavioral health crisis center at Crozer Chester will be on full diversion and closed to ambulances starting at 8 am 4/28/25. The County will have contracts in place with other providers to pick up those services on Monday, April 28 so that there is no gap in service. We will announce those providers and start dates as soon as agreements are finalized. We recognize the challenge and difficulties that this shortened closure time is bringing, however we will work to ensure all our residents and stakeholders are informed and that services continue seamlessly.

Community members can seek behavioral support by contacting:

  • Delaware County Crisis Connection Team (DCCCT) at 1-855-889-7827: Mobile Mental Health and crisis outreach services
  • National Suicide and Crisis Hotline: Call “988”
  • Peer Warmline (855) 464-9342 : Manned by peers in recovery from mental illness.

Further information on behavioral health services is available on the Delaware County Department of Human Service and DCHD websites.

In response to this deeply disappointing development, Delaware County has issued an emergency declaration to help safeguard public health, ensure care continuity, and mobilize resources in support of residents and healthcare workers. The emergency declaration enables the County to expedite staffing, procurement, and emergency medical coordination, and is initially in effect for seven days. The declaration also allows officials to track and potentially recoup costs related to the closures. If extended by Delaware County Council, the declaration may remain in effect for a longer duration.

Residents should be aware that Prospect has established a dedicated call center for patient and care-related inquiries. Residents and families can contact the center at (888) 801-2338 or email CrozerPAInquiries@omniagnt.com for information regarding patient transfers, medical records, and next steps.

While Delaware County is deeply disappointed in Prospect’s actions throughout this process, the County continues to pursue options for a stable, nonprofit transition of services in partnership with state officials, regional health systems, and community stakeholders. The County is also working closely with the Delaware County Workforce Development Board to support the approximately 3,000 Crozer employees who may be impacted.
