The Bureau of Elections is posting updated materials related to vacancies in elected offices and post-primary ballots.
The updated Vacancies in Office Tracking Grid reflects input from School Boards and local municipalities that have notified the Bureau of Elections of mid-term elections that need to be added for the November 2, 2021 Municipal General Election ballot. These updates reflect vacancies that have occurred in elected offices after February 16, 2021 and prior to September 2, 2021. These vacancies may occur due to the resignations, illness, or death of an elected official during their term, resulting in the office being added to the ballot as a mid-term election.
Please note that updates to the Vacancies in Office Tracking Grid may continue to be made until the September 2, 2021 deadline, since the Bureau of Elections is still awaiting responses from several outstanding jurisdictions.
The updated Post-Primary Ballot Changes document reflects changes to the ballot that was used during the May 18, 2021 Municipal Primary ballot.
Examples of changes include:
Write-In candidates who received enough votes and filed the necessary paperwork to be included on the November ballot.
Third Party candidates who filed Nomination Papers to run for office
Candidates who were nominated in the Primary and have since withdrawn their name from the ballot
Substituted Candidates who have been nominated by their political party to fill vacancies/withdrawals
The inclusion of a second ballot of Judges who wish to be retained for an additional term to their offices
Offices where a vacancy occurred in an elected office after February 16, 2021 and prior to September 2, 2021 and a mid-term election will be held (this section also indicates candidates who have been nominated by their political party to be the candidate to fill said vacancy).
Miscellaneous changes or corrections (e.g., candidates listings corrected to read “Jr.” instead of “Sr.” on the November ballot)
