On Feb. 9, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered that the period for candidates to circulate and file petitions for the May 17, 2022 Primary had been “temporarily suspended.” The ruling was the result of ongoing hearings on new maps for the state’s Congressional districts. On Feb. 22, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered that statewide and Congressional petition circulation and filing of petitions resume for the May 17, 2022 Primary. Until further notice, candidates for State Representative, State Senator and state party positions should not begin circulating petitions until the Supreme Court issues a ruling on state legislative maps.

However, candidates for Party Committeeperson at the precinct level can now begin to circulate nomination petitions, effective Fri., Feb. 25 through Tues., March 15.
