In-Person Visitation

Please read this page carefully. The George W Hill Correctional Facility offers in-person visitation Monday through Friday, 8:45am -10:00pm based on housing assignments. Please note there are several steps required prior to in-person visit:

All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and valid updated vehicle insurance. We do not allow Uber, Lyft, etc. to come onto property.

The population is authorized 1 visit per week (either 1 video visit OR 1 in-person visit)

An Incarcerated person is authorized up to 3 visitors per visit. A visitor under the age of 18 is not required to register for a visit. Minors will be counted as 1 of the 3 visitors and must be accompanied by an adult.

The Incarcerated person is required to submit a visitor's list to their respective Case Manager.

If Approved, the incarcerated person will need to inform the visitor to begin the on-line registration process

Processing of Visitors

1. Visitors must identify themselves and register upon entry into the facility. The Visitation Supervisor or Shift Commander is to use discretion in making decisions and may grant exceptions when dealing with the disabled, elderly, or other hardship cases.

2. Valid Identification shall be one of the following and must be current:

a. Any valid Driver’s License (current)
b. Military or Government I.D. card;
c. Passports;
d. Any picture I.D. issued by a City, County, State or Government Agency.

Note: Unusual I.D. situations will inevitably occur and should be referred to the Shift Commander or higher authority for decision. Reasonable flexibility without compromising security is necessary, but these decisions must be referred to and made by the Shift Commander or higher authority and shall be documented.

Female visitors who wear veils or other articles of clothing that obstruct the view of their face as required by their religious belief will be processed as follows when entering and exiting the facility:

a. In all instances, the female Correctional Officer and/or Supervisor who identifies the visitor upon entering the facility shall be the same Correctional Officer or Supervisor who identifies the visitor before leaving the facility.

b. The item of clothing obstructing the view of the visitor’s face will be removed. This will be done in the women’s restroom near the Front Entrance Security Post. This location affords that visitor privacy as to not be seen by male individuals and will be cleared of all other female visitors prior to this process being conducted. This process will be conducted on a “one on one” basis.

c. Once the face veil or other article of clothing obstructing the view of an individual’s face has been removed and the Correctional Officer or Supervisor has an unobstructed view of the visitor’s face, a comparison to an accepted form of identification will be conducted when this is completed the individual will be searched and processed in accordance with current policy and procedure.

d. After verifying the visitor’s identity, the visitor will be instructed to place the veil or other article of clothing back to its original position. The visitor will then be allowed to pass into the visitation room.

e. Upon completion of the visit and before leaving the facility, the visitor will again be required to remove the veil or other item of clothing and their identity confirmed. This will be conducted as above by a female Correctional Officer and/or Supervisor. This will be done in the women’s restroom near the Front Entrance Security Post. This location affords that visitor privacy as to not be seen by male individuals and the restroom will be cleared of all other female visitors prior to this process being conducted. This process will be conducted on a “one on one” basis.

f. Visitors wearing face veils or any other article of clothing that obstructs the view of their face as required by their religious belief will not be given preferential treatment. All visitors will wait in line to be processed into the facility in accordance with current policy and procedure.


Physical Contact

There will be no physical contact between the incarcerated person and their visitors at any time. The incarcerated person may not hold any children during the visit. If contact is detected, the visit will be immediately terminated by the Visitation officer, and the visitor/visitors will be asked to exit the visitation room. An incident report will be generated immediately following the end of visits for the shift and turned into the Shift Commander’s office before the end of the shift.


Visitation Conduct

Any individual who comes to this facility to visit an incarcerated person and is found to have disrupted the orderly operations of the facility through their actions, to include but not limited to the introduction of contraband into the facility, i.e. cell phone, tobacco, narcotics, will be restricted from this facility for a time frame anywhere up to and including, an indefinite period of time. A current Visitor Restriction List will be maintained by the Deputy Warden of Security.

Visitors shall not be allowed to switch seats with other persons during a visitation period to allow other visitors to visit another incarcerated person during the same visiting period.

Visitors wishing to visit more than one incarcerated person will have to return to the Reception area for verification of the second incarcerated person's visitation status


Virtual Visitation

Video visitation is offered Monday through Friday: 9:00am to 9:55pm based on housing assignment. Like in person visitation, the there are several steps required prior to in-person visit:

1. The Incarcerated person is required to submit a visitor's list to their respective Case Manager.
2. The list needs to go through the approval path
3. If Approved, the incarcerated person will need to inform the visitor to begin the on-line registration process

6.  Approved visitor needs to enter visitor information

Please note the following:

Visits are scheduled 2 days in advance/ no more than 7 days in advance

Visitors must conduct the visit from a remote location

Visitors must be on the incarcerated person's authorized visiting list

Video Visit are audio/video recorded and are subject to review. Inappropriate behavior or inappropriate dress will result in terminated visit with possible suspension of future visits
